Waiting and Resting ~ An Update

God is Good.  Always.  No matter what.
And He gives the grace needed for the journey.
How amazing is HIS love!

Thank you to each and every one of you who has

emailed, left blog comments, sent cards, phoned, brought meals,
visited with Austin, and of course ~ Prayed!!

Every single email, comment and note has been read.

Every single phone message has been listened to.
The food has been a great blessing, and Austin has enjoyed all the visits!
Thank you all so very, very much.  How precious God's people are!

The LORD is carrying us through this journey.

HE is in control.  And we rest in HIM.

Austin is out of imminent danger.

His body has responded well to each of the heart
medications administered.  It might not have been the case.
This is a direct answer to prayer.

Each medicine had to be added in one by one to be sure

he would tolerate them.  There are three or four.
God has graciously answered prayer and the meds are working well.

The full picture will not be known for some time.

Many tests were implemented and results will be slow in coming.
There are many questions.  We must be patient for the answers.

Each day is a gift.

In order to see the extent of the damage to the heart,

an MRI is needed.  It will likely take place next week.  Now we wait.
We do not know what the future holds.  But, we know WHO holds it!

Our Great God is already there.

The team of cardiologists at Children's Hospital
has determined that Austin should be closely monitored
and then re-assessed in about three months.
It takes a long time for the medicines to take effect.

In the meantime, we pray that healing would happen.
We pray that his body would continue to accept the meds.

The next step in this journey would involve inserting a pacemaker, if necessary.
Please pray that it won't be required.
When/if that stops working, there are ways to mechanically
help the heart while waiting for a transplant.

Statistically ~ One third of children with this condition die.
One third live with impaired heart function and use medications,
possibly a pacemaker, and may eventually receive a heart transplant.
One third completely recover.

Anything is possible with God.

If all goes well tonight, Austin may be released from
the hospital in the morning. He will have to lay low
for awhile.  Chess anyone? :)
The new normal?  Time will tell.

Thank you once again for your prayers!
If the LORD should bring us to mind, would you please
continue to pray?  Only as you are able.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

"My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from Him...
Trust in Him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before Him:
God is a refuge for us."  Psalm 62:5 and 8

The LORD truly does all things well.
Resting in HIM, Camille

Oh I am so thrilled to hear that Austin's body has tolerated the meds. The Lord is good and it has been an honour to pray for him and your family. Do you know Camille the Lord kept sending me little reminders to keep praying for Austin over the weekend! A bottle of Canadian maple syrup set out on the table for the pancake party my daughter organized at our home for the young people at church. Then the next day I turn up to pick the children up from their ice skating lesson and they are all playing ice hockey and I thought of you all! Sending you an email as I would love to send something over for Austin. So thrilled to hear he is out of imminent danger.

Dearest Camille,
I have been checking for news several times a day, and am praising God with you for the prayers answered so far.
I will continue to lift your precious son Austin before the throne, and will continue to pray for strength for you and your husband.
We do not know the future, we only know the One who does...and He can be trusted.
Wishing I could be there in person to do whatever needs doin'....
In Christ alone,
Cindy

PTL Austin is out of danger for now!
Thank you, Camille, for specific prayer requests ~ will be praying for:
Three months evaluation to go by quickly and uneventfully with a good response with the meds. and that there will be minimal impairment of heart function. That NO pacemaker will be required (and NO TRANSPLANT needed). Especially for peace and comfort for Austin and all of your precious family and that you will all continue to feel His presence through all the actions and prayers of loving friends and family.
Praying, praying, praying...

I am so glad Austin is responding well to the medicine. I am praying for complete healing....that he could be in the top third that fully recover. I imagine what a fantastic testimony your family is to the medical community. Keep shining Jesus! I also hope that you all are getting the rest you need and your other kids will be able to process what is going on as well. Ps. 34:18 "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
